The fire hazard of skylights
Skylights in your warehouse are, quite logically, located at the top of the flat roof. This means that the structure of the flat roof is not completely horizontally aligned. What is the consequence? In the event of a fire, smoke accumulates under your light tunnels or rooflights. This slows down the ESFR (Early Suppression Fast Response) sprinkler system. The ESFR systems are fast response sprinklers with a large extinguishing capacity that quickly control a fire. Howerver, if the smoke builds up under the skylights first, the effective sprinkler system kicks in much later. The resulting damage and even fatalities can be prevented.
Sealing skylights delays fire
If you choose to seal skylights, at the same height as the rest of your roof structure, your sprinkler system will come into action immediately. Sealing skylights is therefore one of the essential conditions when installing ESFR sprinklers. You can use fire resistant glass to seal off light tunnels and skylights. Unfortunately, this can crack and fall down, which is a major drawback for firemen entering such a building.
Certified fire protection for skylights
The ITP Smoke Fabric is a high-quality backing fabric for closing off your skylight in a fire-safe manner. It is non-flammable and also translucent and UV-resistant. The fabric system meets the EN13501 fire classification standard A2-s1. This means that even in the event of a serious fire, there will be no fire promotion and very little smoke development.
ITP has 10 years of experience in sealing skylights in combination with sprinkler systems. Thanks to our acquired know-how, we have an ANPI Conformity Approval. We think about all the details: the technical fabric is stretched between clamping profiles of galvanised steel inside the skylight upstands. As a result, no melting or dripping plastic parts coming from the skylights can interfere with or deactivate the sprinklers. In addition, the ITP Smoke Fabric causes minimal smoke and no harmful fumes for people and the environment. So sealing your skylights is perfectly environmentally friendly.
ITP Smoke Fabric HLT
Want to make your company completely fireproof? The ITP Smoke Fabric HLT is a certified and improved system for sealing light tunnels. Just like the ITP Smoke Fabric, this is a solution that complies with CEA4001. The improved system
allows even more light to pass through and is
more temperature resistant. Both systems are also sunproof, a great advantage in summer.
Future proof smoke curtains and smoke screens
Why do we constantly seek improvement in our smoke curtains and translucent textile screens? Fire safety standards, imposed by insurance companies, are (understandably) becoming increasingly stringent. With ITP’s smoke and textile screens, you can be sure that you will comply with fire safety legislation in the future. Is there a fire or smoke development in your warehouse? With the ITP Smoke Fabric (HLT) you actually buy time to evacuate and, thanks to the ESFR sprinkles, let the fire service limit the damage as much as possible.
Illuminated smoke panels for 1x1m, 2x2m or 3×3 domes?
No skylights, but smaller domes on your roof? Our Smoke Panels, safe and certified smoke panels for skylights, are translucent and make your roof completely even at the bottom, horizontally. ITP installs these accurately in your warehouse or distribution centre. In both new and old buildings with or without obstacles, we offer a 100% safe sealing of the skylights.
Another not unimportant detail: the ITP Smoke Fabric (HLT) textile fabrics are very lightweight. This also makes them suitable for lighter roof structures. Finally, our systems give your building a sleek, stylish and modern look.
